Hair day

Those petunias and impatience self seed every year in our 9' long windowbox. (I wanted a fairly close picture instead of seeing the whole windowbox.) Every spring we wonder if we'll have to plant it again and it comes through for us every time. I'm sure the soil needs changing, but we just don't have the heart to disturb the pretties.

Today is hair day. I go for a cut and color every six weeks. They try to make my appointment every five weeks, but it costs so much I stretch it out as long as I can. Most of my life I've got a $10 haircut twice a year, trimming my bangs when they got unbearable, and each month a bad, home done color. It got to the point where my hair just looked horrible. I didn't know what to do with it. I needed Nick on What Not To Wear! I needed someone to tell me what we needed to do. I'd ask friends who they went to and couldn't find anyone completely satisfied, so I got on the internet. I found Amy Fraser at Hair Reflections at the Summit in Birmingham. She's my Nick. She took one look and told me what color and style she wanted to see on me. I do look good when I leave there -- if only I could style it the way she does...... But I now pay at one appointment almost what it cost me a whole year before. I can't believe I'm spending that much on my hair, but doggone-it! It's time I did something nice for ME. Besides, they have massage chairs at the shampoo sinks.

It takes 2-1/2 - 3 hours to get my hair done and two hours travel time. It nearly kills me to give up my whole day like that and it always comes around when I'm in the mood to be creative at home. Sigh. Guess I'll devote the day to my "missions". I need turquoise candles, peacock feathers, a bolster pillow form, trim for drapes in my son's room and kitchen curtain fabric. That ought to keep me busy before and after.
